Shipments of chicken meat reverse the balance of the two months and reach 1.4% increase in the first three months
Poultry and pork shipments exceed 500 thousand tons in the month
Brazilian pork exports (considering all products, between fresh and processed) totaled 109.2 thousand tons, informs the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). The number exceeds by 51.5% the shipments registered in the same period last year, when 72.1 thousand tons were exported.
In revenue, sales in the sector reached US $ 261.7 million, a number that is 57.6% higher than the result of shipments made in the third month of 2020.
Year-to-date, pork exports totaled 253.5 thousand tons, a volume 21.86% higher than that recorded in the first quarter of 2020, when 208 thousand tons were shipped.
The balance of sales for the quarter reached US $ 594 million, a number 22.4% higher than that achieved in the same period of 2020, with US $ 485.1 million.
“It is the largest monthly volume of exports ever recorded by pig farming in Brazil, and reinforces the expectation of a new record in total sales for the year. All of this, without depleting the domestic market ”, analyzes Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA.
Main destination for pork exports, China imported 58.7 thousand tons in March (+ 64.6%), and 132.9 thousand tons in the quarter (+ 36.5%). In the second place, Hong Kong imported 17.5 thousand tons in March (+ 49.9%) and 37.3 thousand tons in the quarter (-6.2%). In third place, Chile imported 5.1 thousand tons in March (+ 98.2%) and 15 thousand tons in the quarter (+ 69.6%).
Santa Catarina continues to be the largest pork exporter, with 126.7 thousand tons exported in the first quarter, 13.86% higher than that registered in the same period in 2020. Next are Rio Grande do Sul, with 68.8 thousand tons ( + 39.5%); and Paraná, with 34.5 thousand tons (+ 27.1%).
CHICKEN MEAT – Brazilian chicken meat exports (considering all products, between fresh and processed) totaled 396 thousand tons in March, informs the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). The number exceeds by 13.3% the total exported in the third month of 2020, with 349.5 thousand tons.
In terms of revenue, March shipments reached US $ 603.6 million, 9.2% more than in the third month of last year, with US $ 552.5 million.
In the quarter, chicken meat exports registered an accumulated increase of 1.44%, with 1,036 million tons exported, against 1,021 million tons in the same period of 2020.
In terms of revenue, the sector’s export balance reached US $ 1.559 billion, 4.6% less than in the same period of the previous year, with US $ 1.635 billion.
“The volume shipped in March was positive and reversed the performance of the first two months, maintaining the forecasts of increases in the productive sector for 2021”, analyzes ABPA’s director of markets, Luis Rua.
In Asia, China imported 55.6 thousand tonnes in March, a volume 6.9% higher than that achieved in the same period in 2020. In the quarter, sales to the Chinese market reached 148 thousand tonnes, a number 11.6% lower in compared to the same period last year. In the Middle East, with the highest increase registered among the chicken importing markets in Brazil, Saudi Arabia, in second place, imported 41.1 thousand tons in March (+ 4%) and 120.8 thousand tons in the quarter (+8 , 5%). In Africa, South Africa (fourth largest destination) imported 29.9 thousand tons in March (+ 36.3%) and 78.4 thousand tons in the quarter (+ 31.9%).
Among the states, Paraná continues to be the largest chicken meat exporter in Brazil, with 419 thousand tons shipped in the first quarter, a number 5.4% higher than the performance recorded in the same period in 2020. Next are Santa Catarina, with 225 , 9 thousand tons (-10.14%); and Rio Grande do Sul, with 161.8 thousand tons (-2.53%).
