With regard to the record of Avian Influenza in backyard birds in Espírito Santo, the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) emphasizes the transparency and maintenance of the excellent work in monitoring the disease carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and by the secretariats of State agriculture.
ABPA recalls that, as a backyard situation, the outbreak identified does not change the Brazilian status as free of the disease within the World Organization for Animal Health (WHOA) standards, since commercial production continues without any registration.
It is not expected, therefore, that any changes occur in the flow of Brazilian exports. There is also no risk to product supply.
The ABPA also points out that, according to all international health agencies, there is no risk in consuming the products.
Finally, ABPA also points out that the sanitary protocols maintained by the industrial poultry industry in Brazil maintain the highest standards of biosecurity, preserving the production units against the disease.
